i have to write a paper abou new years day for school by friday and we have to make a food to share with the class so i wanted to no what people eat on new years day and how to make it just so that i could get some ideas

We have (traditionally) Ham and Blackeyed Peas - It's said if you eat 300 blackeyed peas it's good luck for the year. Usually going with that we have greens or cabbage, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese.

If you are going to make it - you can go the super easy route of getting those pre-sliced hams and blackeyed peas in the can (Busch's brand is not too bad).

Hoppin John-black eyed peas, rice, tomatoes, onions..it's gross to me but my mom had to make it every year.
