Yes, but as of the PS3's launch, it had problems playing over 800 PS2 games. They made a download available for your PS3 to fix the problem though, so in the future, it will be as simple as going online with your PS3 and DL'ing a patch-up or quick-fix like microsoft.

Yes all ps2 games are compatible with the ps3...because the processor in the ps3 is way better and smarter..your ps2 games might even look a little better then usual...if you don't have a ps3 now...new shipments come in january..or if u don't wanna wait..u can find them on e-bay for 1200-3000 dollars a piece..

Yes the PS3 is backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games. But I don't think the PS2 and PS1 games are compatible with PS3 memory cards, so dont throw those away!

Most yes, Guitar Hero 1 and 2 are not. Oh and FF VII isn't, thats just some of the ones that arent yet. But with firmware patches they will do like the psp they should be soon.
