Traditional, tasteful. It is just what I like, no real reason, maybe it is because my parents kept a traditional tree. I collect ornaments, and always choose traditional colors and shapes, I love glass and crystal ornaments, I take care to arrange the lights behind them, and they glow. Except, I have always wanted a tree with pink and white ornaments, and I am collecting towards that goal. But still, most of those are Victorian, and therefore conservative and tasteful. I have another tree that is all cardinals, the bird, not the team. It is very different, and I get compliments, and everybody helps me watch the stores for something different. On that tree there are some cartoon type ornaments, a cardinal shaped like a little bell, one in a swing, one with binoculars, he is bird watching, so says his little sign.
There sure is a lot of tackey out there this year! Any color you want, purple, lime green, shocking pink, aquamarine blue. and things are suspended from springs, lots of smiling mooses, and silly stuff. To each his own, it takes all kinds, one person's tackey is another's crown jewels.. There must be a market for it, all the stores have it. And if you like huge ornaments, this is your year! Big, monochromatic arangements, the hobby store even had one in the center of a wreath. There is something for everyone.
I saw one tree at a person's house that was all cream and gold, carefully collected over a number of years.. It was gorgeous, she had some expensive collector's ornaments, and some not so expensive.
Merry Christmas, and happy decorating!

I prefer Traditionally Tasteful. I don't like tackiness in anything. Traditionally Tasteful just looks so much more pleasing upon my eyes. Each to their own though!

I don't know....... we use the same decorations we've had for years. The kids make new ones in school each year and, of course, they go up too. I guess we're traditional in that way.
Our ornaments are green, red, gold, and silver. I can't afford to get new stuff for the tree each year, and the kids really like the old fashioned ornaments anyway.
Merry Christmas!

I don't think anybody purposely thinks they're tacky. Even the ar*ewipes who live a few doors down from my mum think they're tasteful with their lit up Santas, snowman, stars and little trees with their christmassy barbed wire round them right next to the old fridge. (I'm not joking either).

Traditional! Homemade ornaments collected overtime; we buy an ornament every year with the year stamped on it. String of lights, and an Angel! Tah-Dah.. that is what I love about Christmas! The tradition!

traditionally tasteful----wouldn't consider not putting each ornament on the tree. with each ornament there is a story or a memory.
