I agree I always see the commercials but there are none near me (northern mi). I know I have seen one somewhere before but I can't remember where I was going. I agree they should stop advertising in areas where there are no locations. I went to the website and the closest one to Detroit is in Ft. Wayne Indiana.

haha! you too!? i see the commercials all the time. it's all for marketing. i used to ask the same question as you and people who are originally from southern states used to tell me that they loved sonics and would rave about the cherry limeade. so i went on a family trip to virginia beach (which is about 4 hours from where i live) and there were so many sonic locations there. i tried it and now i'm hooked. you have to try it if you get a chance. but that is why they advertise in places where they don't even have a location. people see the commercials and remember it when they travel.

I am sorry if you don't have a Sonic near you. There are 3,000 of them..it is the world's largest chain of drive in's. I like the coney hot dogs, the fresh limeade's and the jr. $1.00 banana splits are the best. They are like old fashion drive in's. You order and they roller skate out to the car with a tray ..They are very popular and not a greasy spoon..where I have eaten. They originated in Oklahoma but are in Mexico and the US.

I seen one in around the area i drive from school to home 2 1/2 hour drive. they advertise for that place all the time. Maybe they are trying to make people aware of this name Sonic. I heard that it is just aonther quick burger and fries place .

One possible explanation - could it possibly be cheaper to advertise nationwide rather than in each state your franchise exists? I'm not sure. Oh, and if you ever get the chance to go to a Sonic's, try it. They are everywhere in my town, and they are always busy. They have limeades that are to die for! They taste especially good on a hot day. Their $1 junior sundae is the perfect size for a 'diet cheat', and their chicken toaster is heavenly. Their breakfasts are cheap, and tasty.

it truly is freakin hilarious! My boyfriend needs to attempt them because of their commercials. And now that is a operating comic tale when we see the commercials that Sonic doesn't "exist"!! we stay north of L.A. and the nearest one is in Anaheim, perhaps you're in the route of Orange County than i'm. same element with Ruby Tuesday's, you should bypass to a distinct state for that one : )

I agree, they advertise in L.A. yet the closest Sonic around is the one in Anaheim by Disneyland. Such a tease...

You know what, the same happened here with the Super Walmarts. I guess they advertise what's 'Coming Soon.'

But when go, the tots are the BEST!
