Mostly not, the surprise is part of the fun, but in our family we offer a 'hints list' of some things we would like in case anyone is really stuck for ideas. My list has brown socks and Body Shop cranberry body lotion on; my husband's has a nice soap and a fancy chilli oil (he's a bit of a gourmet). But as he comes from a culture which doesn't celebrate Christmas and hasn't quite got the hang of this presents lark I've helped Santa along by buying one or two things for myself to come from hubby. I will also be getting no sleep this Christmas.......a newborn, an excited 2-year-old and an over-excited 60-year-old (mother-in-law: coming to Britain for first-ever Christmas and determined to make the most of it!)

Call me old-fashioned, but Christmas is for family. I look forward to buying some gifts, singing songs with the family, and lighting a fire. I really look forward to the food and decorations. We will probably go to church on the Sunday before, which is Christmas Eve. I will not go to Mass and have made this known. I told my wife that she could go to Mass on Saturday; that was up to her. Some years she does and others she doesn't. It doesn't interest her that much.

Yes, I'm 50 a few days before Christmas and as a big surprise my hubby has booked airline tickets for us to go to Australia at Easter next year, its a dream come true and I just can't wait.

Another year of getting my sanity back. Ever since I stopped buying and accepting gifts for Christmas I've become happier, calmer, and more focused about what is important in life.

A great gift I gave to myself; and I give it to myself and all my friends again every year. They have one less person to spend money on!

I do know that I'm going to get a large credit card bill for everybody elses presents but as for what they are getting me I haven't got a clue.I'm honestly not that fussed either as I've got used to years and years of getting socks, chocolates and some dodgy aftershave that anything other than that is a bonus!

Won't get what I want.... Want my man home from Afghanistan, that would be the best Christmas present I could have.
