I think goalkeeping might be the toughest position o play in a foot ball/ soccer team bcuz I find it very difficult to protect my goal. I also never understand how goalies can jump sideways and be on their stomachs. Maybe I'm not fit enough?

Any advice is appreciated.

One of the best drills I taught my keeper was to sit on the ground and I would throw a ball from side to side and they would have to stretch out and grab it. When we practiced indoors we had what was called target practice. I would line the team up about 10 feet from the goal and let the rest of the team take shots at her. You either get fast or quit real quick.

You are right Goalkeeping by far is one of the hardest positions to play in soccer. I myself had to force myself to dive for the ball at and early age. My coach would make me and the other keeper stand in the net while the rest of the team lined up on the goal pox and then he would yell go and everyone would kick the balls at us trying to score and for every ball that made it in with out us touching it first we had to run a lap around the field. Believe me you do this deal a few times and you learn to dive.

Start out diving on the ground ( collapse, ground dive.. whatever you want to call it) and then work your way up to air diving. Start by diving over poles, then small hurdles, than balls, then high enough such as people in a pyramid. Your body gets used to it and if you are in the correct position it does not hurt at all.

just really practice at it i was in the same situation as u..... just really practice... what i did to prepare was kick a ball at a wall for a while and dive for it, attack every ball u will scare the ppl and it makes the goal smaller and gives them less chance to make the shot..never be scared to be hit in the face or anywhere else because it will happen.. don't worry about getting hurt either u might be to worried about getting hurt to play the game... good luck

Watch the feet when someone is about to kick you'll learn what way to dive and block more shoots. When diving dont worry about how bad its going to hurt when you come down.

Keep the ball out of the net and you'll be fine.
