Disable DHCP on the wireless routers that you want to function as access points. Wire them into your network by plugging in to one of their LAN ports (Not WAN). This will enable them just to function as a access point but will have to be hardwired into your network.

A wireless install of them is a bit more complicated as Linksys routers themselves can't function as a bridge or repeater with stock firmware. If you load DD-WRT on them (a different firmware) you can use them to setup a WDS, which would be similar to having a bridged/repeated wireless signal; the routers that are part of a WDS than aren't hardwired into the network, but would be able to provide a signal/connection to nodes connected to them.

You may also have some degree of success installing high gain antennas (and upgrading the firmware if possible) as a means of increasing your signal.

decide for the E4200 (version 2.0) or the extra present day EA4500. I had a 3000 formerly employing a 4200; at the same time as they're genuinely the comparable, the E4200 is a lot quicker on the two bands than the E3000. you're able to do what you're envisioning to do with on the spot connectivity on your Router devoid of 'internet hookup, yet remember you nevertheless p.c. 'internet get right of entry to and the thank you to acquire/flash the Router with the main present day firmware variations. as quickly as you install community Magic (Linksys CD that comes including your Router) you need to use its community Map function to confirm only how each little thing connects visually. so a tactics as Ethernet vs. USB, USB 2.0 is 480mbps, the place Ethernet is only 100mbps. concerning HDTV hookup, as long because it helps networking (the two USB on the spot adapter or Ethernet direct connection or Bridge), then particular, you may connect it on your LAN. besides the fact that, finding on the specifications on your particular television, there would not seem to be any USB or Ethernet ports.
