They just stated they are trying to pass a bill that a fetus over 20 weeks does feel pain from an abortion and that the mother will have to sign a document stating that she will accept anethesia or not for the fetus (baby). She can reject this for the baby/fetus....does this not sound like death row with out a choice for an individual? Should it not be mandatory?
Do you think that if it is PROOVEN to cause pain that this is not a form of murder at this point?
We have people who are on death row who commit violent crimes and they "peacefully" get put to death(although there is nothing peaceful about being "put" death)....why not an innocent child?

What are your thoughts? It's really sad : (

You seem pretty upset about this? If it is a question that would work you up then why answer? I asked opinion...and it is a BILL going to congress.
I have no "straw man" tactic here, other than just wondering WHY it would be a bill passed to happen in the second trimester.
Secondly, know your facts before you attempt to belittle a progress issue that the Politics of the Government have based on FACT, put for us to acknowledge?
And why bother with this legislation?....hmmmmmmmm because I am curious and have a heart maybe? I disagree with the idea that why should it be a choice in that trimester that is why!!

When can the unborn child feel pain?
By 9 weeks from conception, all the structures necessary for pain sensation are functioning.
When can the unborn child's brain waves be detected?
A baby's brainwaves can be detected at 6 weeks from conception.
You need to educate yourself on pregnacy maybe? oh, and the vital signs would be a good one to?
Do you twitch when your in pain

The next thing is I was simply asking a question as I heard on the news, it was not meant to create animosity I respect your views Mich however I am a debator and will until prooven wrong and YES I admit when I am at fault, but you have prooven nothing to me yet that makes a decent arguement.
You have your view and I mine. So no hard feelings! I just did not understand the bill nor the waste of time of it. And wanted some opinions.

Yes it should be mandatory. Of course they feel pain. Just because it's small means nothing. It is a developing life. There are millions of itty bitty bugs that feel pain...Baby is alive and growing inside of you and I don't know why anyone wouldn't use the medicine. Of course, I am biased because I don't approve of abortion anyways. Your death row analogy fits perfectly. The sad part your talking about is the fact that they are just now admitting the pain on the baby. They're ripped apart in most cases...how is that not painful?? Of course it's traumatic and painful on the mother as well and I feel for both.
Too many people disagree with this contraversial issue, so it's hard for anything (bills or laws) to be passed either way...pro or con.
Blessed be to all.

Define pain. If the fetus twitches, is that pain? or an autonomic response?

You cannot feel pain if there is no consciousness. Are you saying something the size of your thumbnail has consciousness? I think not.

And how are you going to supply anesthesia to something that small? It would be more dangerous to the woman poking around for a fetus to give it a shot.

EDIT: I know. I ignored that part of your strawman statement. A woman usually cannot get a second trimester abortion. So back to you, why bother with this legislation?

There are the politics of the times. I am pro-choice, if we are talking the traditional Roe vs. Wade view. In Canada, abortion and gay marriage aren't really issues and why should they be? I am fine with someone disagreeing but am tired of legislation to limit people's rights. Just because you disapprove of divorce doesn't mean others should be banned from it. I have a bigger issue with how people treat marriage than I do with abortion.

Yeah anethesia sounds fair i dont think it should be an option to have an abortion after the first trimester unless it affects the mothers health anyways but in that case, yes i guess it should be mandatory.

I think one of the other issues hear is that anti-abortionists have submitted this law not to ease the pain of fetuses, but to intimidate women during a very stressful time in their lives.

I think abortion is an abomination that should be illegal so that should tell you how I feel about this.
