As long as your fuel pump is running, next you want to check for spark. Try checking the Dist. cap and rotor, after that If you don't have spark, you may want to replace the ign. module, located in the dist. cap.

I absolutely have the very similar challenge purely I allready replaced the gas pump a three hundred and sixty 5 days in the past! i got here upon this on the internet ; danger is that is one among 3 issues, a foul gas pump relay: even if that is, it expenses about $15 and is placed contained in the "lower than the hood" fuse field. seem lower than the fuse field lid for region of the relay. #2 The oil pump rigidity change/sending unit: you may make certain this with the aid of unplugging the cord connector to the sending unit and jumping both end terminals jointly that is a three cord connector. If the gas pump begins that is spoke of with the aid of a hum from the tank then that is maximum in all danger the oil press/sending unit.#3 The cord connector to the gas pump itself might want to also be undesirable, yet it truly is not undemanding too because you should drop the gas tank to get to it also. i understand the oil rigidity change/sending unit sounds unrelated even if the wiring circuit to the gas pump has a branch that is routed with the help of the oil sending unit and it may reason the pump no longer to operate if it is going undesirable. The oil sending unit (OSU) is in a tricky region contained in the decrease back of the engine lower than the distributor and it takes a deep socket to eliminate. The gas pump, even if that is completely undesirable, is a huge job quite once you've an entire tank of gas. that is often suited to eliminate the gas before attempting to drop the gas tank. maximum tanks those days are puzzling to get a siphon hose into. The gas pump i purchased cost $one hundred eighty from an motor vehicle parts save and parent 2 or 3 hours of puzzling paintings purely relies upon on how reliable/quick they're. There are some tricks to dropping the tank and there are some gas line connector strategies required yet they don't seem intense priced. in case you do replace the pump, you'll also opt to regulate the gas clear out. After each thing I stated previously, you may want to opt for to envision that the gas clear out isn't plugged up...that is a danger, yet I absolutely have under no circumstances seen a plugged up gas clear out. I, for sure, purchase my gas at respected places, yet in case you do not i wager it is useful to seem at to boot to what I informed you. reliable luck wish this facilitates!

Just solved a similar problem on a 99 Silverado, and I recommend starting by scanning the computer for sensor error codes. The computer must have a basic list of input conditions valid before it will allow the engine to start. In my case, the Silverado had a door safety alarm switch problem and only the GM dealer's scanner was able to read the GM specific error code.

There are 2 reasons an engine won't run: no fuel, no fire. Just because the pump is running doesn't mean you are getting fuel.
An electric pump will run fine, but with a bad valve in the pump it won't pump gas. Look for the Shrader valve on the fuel runner and check the fuel pressure. If you have pressure, check for fire at the sparkplugs.

No spark. If you are sure fuel is getting to the motor and in to the chamber then the only thing left is no spark. check to see if you are getting power to the coil pack. If not check the cam and crank sensors.

If it's got spark there is most likely not enough fuel pressure,(cpi GM's need alot) or there is a prob with the poppets or injectors themselves.
