I live in san francisco and I've come to the decision that a relocation would do me some good. Currently my personal life isn't going so great so I think I need a change of scenery. I can always come back because I own my house ( so housing isn't a problem)but does anyone have any suggestions as to where I might possibly move to and why?

School for me is done, and a job I would have trouble find a decent one. I think a relocation might be temporary

Lexy.....might I suggest a long vacation in the north-west of Scotland? You sound like you're only fixing for a holiday.
You could pay your way and get bar or waiting-on work.
up points.......you will never have seen anything like it in your life. It's breath- taking. The people you will meet are an absolute gas.
Down-points....it's just a bit cold really. Compared to SF. But it will be so much a breath of fresh air...you might feel different about SF when you get back.
I'm UK btw, but not Scotland. I was really p###d off with my life till the first time I went there......then.......man.......

Phoenix is cool. Everything here is neat and organized and clean and new. The streets are easy to learn as everything is on an east/west grid and the streets are named and numbered logically. Everything is spread out far and wide, lots of room to move. The heat in the summer is very handlable if you are smart. Personally, I like the heat, it feels like it is baking the toxins out of my body. Bye bye seasonal affective disorder! The sunshine helps you get enough vitamin D and reduces depression. It's not far from the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff (snow, skiing, mountains), or Las Vegas, San Diego or Palm Springs or LA by car. The people are really nice, much nicer than they were in Seattle. Depending on what you do, jobs here don't pay as much, but that's because it has been so cheap to buy a house, until recently, so pay is moving upward. Talk about a CHANGE from San Francisco--it's the polar opposite!
If you do move to Phoenix, the best place to live is close to downtown in one of the historical neighborhood with the little bungalos. Every house is different and they are well-maintained. The outskirts of Phoenix have tract housing where they are built quickly and cheaply and they all look alike. If water ever becomes an issue, the outskirts will feel it first.

Nashville TN is an up and coming city for businessess these days. It's one of the few affordable states for housing and there are no state taxes.
