Whenever i plug in my video camera using my usb port my computer doesn't show that the camera is plugged in.

Make sure you set your video camera to stream mode (most likely its firewire connection) after you do so the camera should popup in your my computer as a video source, after that you can stream your media directly from the camera. If your camera takes pictures it might be in picture mode, if not refer back to your manual, you must set your settings on the video camera so it knows you are trying to stream your videos to your computer.

Whta kind of camera is it? Are you sure that it can be used as a web cam? You also have to go to settings and choose that camera. Does it work as a web cam in like a im program. Also you would be able to view it in my computer.
