just to clarify, I mean DNA fingerprinting, as in the scan of human DNA strands to identify a person. by "crime", I mean even something small like getting a traffic ticket, to something bigger such as murder. Should DNA fingerprinting be mandatory for anyone who commits crime?

Absolutely not.

Everyone gets a ticket or a fine at some point.... They shouldnt be forced to give up their DNA....

I have issues with DNA banks.... How can I know that my sample wasnt taken and placed at the scene of a crime so as to get incontrovertible proof of my guilt? Or, what if the Govt then starts using the DNA databank to pick and choose who gets what kind of medical insurance - because they can tell what types of diseases run in your DNA and might afffect you - and thus withhold care if it costs too much....

I dont trust big brother...

Why for ANY crime? Gambling is a crime - but are you going to find DNA evidence at the scene of a multiple gambling bet? Most likely not....so why take DNA? Same with the crime of selling narcotics - you dont leave a DNA sample in a bag of coke...

DNA banks should be kept only for violent and sexual offenders. And, only once CONVICTED...not accused but convicted.

A DNA fingerprint should be taken at birth and when someone is actually arrested, not necessarily when they get a speeding ticket or something, that would be too impractical to have a cop trying to get cheek cells during a traffic stop.

I think DNA fingerprinting should be done, but not for something small as a traffic ticket. now if someone as been arrested for DUI then maybe they should be fingerprinted. DNA fingerprinting should be mandatory.

I say.....what does or not it is counted. I paintings for a PD and in many situations the purely time they fingerprint is that if the prisoner is going to stay. in the experience that they offer them a PTA (promise to seem) then they don't in many situations fingerprint except they sense that is critical
