ok I live in Louisiana but I am originally from upstate New York. The people in New York City do have attitudes ok but thats cuz u gotta be hard in the city and they feel they have to be that way also. Upstate New York however the people are friendly, everyone knows everyone there pretty much because there out in the hills and sticks pretty much. There is a difference between New York City and upstate New York and no one really understands that. It just like theres a differenece betwwen Northern Louisiana and Southern Louisiana

There's nothing like New York. It has its own culture and its own language. I was born and raised in New York, but now I live in Minnesota.
Believe me, there are few things that I enjoy more than meeting fellow New Yorkers, displaced or still living in NYC. They don't think I talk too fast or with an accent. They miss bodegas too. They have taxi horror stories. Sometimes (if I'm lucky) they're Italian and remember the parades on Columbus day and the great food on Mulberry Street.
You'd have to live there for awhile to understand it. New York has its problems, but it's a great city. Where else could you hear dozens of languages just walking down the street? Chinatown, Little Italy, Canal Street, Harlem, free concerts in Central Park, the Apollo, MoMa, the subway and great food are but a few of the things that make New York great.

I am not a New Yorker but just visited for the first time this past week end. New York is out of this world. It is the hugest city I have ever seen. It has everything anyone can dream of. It has all the riches of the world, the climate is nice even at this time of year, there are people from all over, its just amazing. You should take a short trip and visit, there is just so much history in this place, and so much to see. I loved it!!!

I lived there for ten years - it's an incredible crossroads for people. So many, from such different places! It's open 24 hours, and there are so many things to do!
But, I found it a bit too impersonal and fast-paced after a while. I moved back to the suburbs. I like trees and grass, houses and small biuldings, more than skyscrapers and the subway. :)
