Most lamps are just simply made up of components that are held together on a threaded rod with nuts. The top electrical piece is also threaded on to the lamp.

The top piece can be changed. If you have a piece sized for a mogul lamp you can certainly mount it on just about any lamp. The link below shows two of that sort of piece for sale, unfortunely both had already sold.

I suspect you can probably find them in lamp parts on ebay also, and a wholesaler like Kirk's Lane likely has new "reproductions."

You cannot use the mogul base in a regular lamp. The base is twice as big as a regular bulb. I think the hardware stores may sell an adapter, but not sure.

I don't think so .. . I think you'll have to change to a Mogul socket. You CAN, however, get a converter to reduce a Mogul socket to the normal size socket, so you can use a regular bulb, but that doesn't seem to be your question.
