I found out recently that my best friend tried to commit suicide, but didnt bother to tell me. I found out instead from somone who we both consider to be a friend but are not close with. Should i confront him, and risk upseting him, or let it go, and hope that he can handle it? I'm scared he didnt tell me cuz he knew i would be disappointed. But if i dont say anything he could do it again! What do I do????????

I think you should continue to be that persons friend. Suicide is a serious topic. He might be getting therapy and is being told not to tell anyone. A good friend will wait around until their friend is ready to tell them. Dont put any unwanted pressure on this person. Appears they have major issues going on that is more important than telling their friend they tried to end their life.

Just tell him that NO MATTER WHAT if he ever needs to talk, You are there. Take every attempt COMPLETELY SERIOUSLY. Suicide is not taken seriously enough in this country which results in many suicides that COULD have been prevented. Someone always says, "I knew something was wrong but I didnt do anything about it." when someone commits suicide. So PLEASE talk to your friend, make him understand that there is SO MUCH out there, and if he was to end it all, he would never know what tomorrow will bring!

I would go talk to him, not to yell at him, but to ask him why he didn't come to you and talk to you. Depending on his answer you might find that maybe his reasons are pretty deep. The best you can do is remind him that you are here for him if he needs to talk.

If you care. Set aside at least an afternoon with no interruptions and discuss it. Bring treats. Bring beer maybe if he likes it and has no real problems with it.

You are his friend, he should have told you, but maybe he is scared that you will be disappointed or maybe even angry.
You should let him know, that you know.... And let him know that you care about him and that it hurt you, that he did not tell you.

Good luck with this.....

I would talk to him. Assure him you are his friend and if he needs to talk, you are there. He may not want to bother you with this knowing it would be hard on you.
