We arrest them and they kill more. The more we arrest the more there are.Clearly we have lost. These people are not capable of democracy,we should pull our police and let them rule themselves.

Ridiculous sounding isn't it? It is the same as all of the defeatist Iraq talk,we certainly are not going to give our cities to the gangs. Why should we throw the Iraqis to the wolves after coming this far?

An interesting analysis and one that is all to correct given the criteria. It is an unfortunate fact that too many people in our society have lost the will to win. They no longer have the stomach for what is required. This mindset began with Korea and has been festering every since. If a society is not willing to fight to defend the concepts it holds dear then that society is truly doomed. We are facing the most persuasive threat we have ever seen in our short history as a nation and many refuse to acknowledge the threat even exists, much less take up arms, or support those who will properly. It is a sad commentary on our society and perhaps all of the western world. If we are not willing to foster freedom and if we are not willing to defend that freedom then it truly will not be long before that freedom will no longer exist for any of us.

Horrible comparison. A more accurate comparison would be us moving in to a gang filled area, taking out the police chief, and removing all the police form power. Then we would institute our own policing force. Then after we realized that the police before were doing an okay job of keeping the gangs from getting too violent, we do nothing as the gangs increase in violence and spread to more people. Then after the gangs have become more violent, we refuse to take a new approach or do anything different.
But anyway, this is a horrible comparison between two things that have nothing to do with each other.

I have a better idea and it is not very revolutionary. We had some objectives to this war: 1) topple Sadaam Hussein, 2) destroy his army, 3) get a government elected that was friendly to ours.
Funny, I think we accomplished all those goals. Mission accomplished.
What does victory look like to you? Seriously, what does it look like? The hard part about all this is that in maybe 5 years we will have another dictator ruling Iraq, just as bad or worse than Sadaam, and he will be Shiite and it will be a theocrasy. The instability we brought to the region (which our current President's father foresaw and forewarned us of) will prove to be a training ground for regional and worldwide terrorists.
This is a tarbaby. It is not about will-to-win. We got involved when we armed Sadaam. We knew who he was: a lesser of two evils. Now with Iran, I bet some would love to put him back in power.
There is nothing worse than being an ex-friend of the USA. Nothing.
As far as war goes, I have been there and never want to go back, thanks. I will defend my home and family, but not go to someone else's neighborhood and try to tell them how to run their government, ever again.

I think we should pull out personally. It's not our country. We went in and implied our type of government on them (I know they semi wanted it but that's not the point) and are paying to rebuild what we broke in the war so they are getting everything at our expense and half of them hate us. I think it's easy to sit back and say we are doing the right thing when we really wont be the ones to deal with it in the long run. Once the national debt is near infinity and all our jobs have been outsorced to other countries and all the countries we tried to help still hate us we'll all be dead so it's not our problem I guess. I couldn't imagine bringing a child up in this world now.
