I know everyone hates the BCS, and I don't exactly like it either. BUT, I look at things like, no matter what they do, I'm not sure if everyone would be satisfied.

Let's say this year they would've switched to a playoff system. what if OSU lost to a 11-2 team in the playoffs by less than a TD. what if their loss came from one or more horrible calls. or if it didnt, what if they were just having a really bad game and couldnt get it together or the other team was having a really good game....lets say like the USC/UCLA game.

Wouldn't then the OSU fans be complaining that it wasn't fair b/c they were the only undefeated team in the playoffs and deserved to go to the national championship game....

I'm not saying i like the bcs system, i'm just saying that i think no matter what, someone is going to feel the system is unfair...always the ''team that got shorted''

any thought on the subject?

A playoff system will not eliminate the controversy.
And the NCAA really does not want to eliminate it. It is what drives interest in there sport.

The NCAA Basketbal Tournament - is just that - a TOURNAMENT. The end result does nothing but give a tourney champion. Anyone want to tell me that if George Mason won last years tourney - that they were truly the BEST college team.
No way. When a different team knocks off the big giant in your region - then the path is easier for all in that region.

A football playoff would be nothing more than the:
NCAA Football TOURNAMENT. Still no guarantee that the best team will win it, or even the best 8 or 10 will get in.

RE: BCS
Certainly not perfect - but well thought out.
College footbal coaches have admitted that they rank their own opponents higher for their own benefit.
Each week, they are supposed to rank the teams.
This final week, they had the mindset of choosing who will play in the national championship.

If USC did not lose this weekend. Most likely Florida does NOT jump ahead of Michigan.

And I am a Gator fan - not Michigan.

I think college football would be better with a Playoff system. Then every team who felt they deserved it would get a shot, and if the undefeated team lost because they didn't play well then maybe they didn't deserve to be number 1. If they can't find a way to win in more then one big game then they don't deserve the Championship. If OSU had a bad game in a playoff situationthen then oh well, better luck next time.

College Basketball has no problem with 34-0 teams losing in the Tourney and then being pissed that they lost to someone 21-10. Why can't college football have the same thing?

Look every playoff system generates contreversy. The D-1 basketball playoff always does and they have 65 teams that play in it. What i think is that you should get the top 12-16 teams, so that way the contreversy is lessened and you get all the great teams in it. I mean the top 16 have to be the elite teams.

If OSU had lost in the first round of the playoff system, they couldnt whine. I mean every year some top seed in March Madness gets knocked off early. Its the way a playoff goes. The best team doesnt always win.

Agreed. What if we had an 8 team playoff system. You have to be ranked in the top 8 to make the playoffs - I'll bet the #9 and #10 ranked teams would cry foul.

Also, people need to stop whining about the computers. The BCS is comprised of human voting too.

like you said you cant get everyone happy. What i think would be best to to make a small playoff system, top 6 make it. Teams ranked 1 and 2 get a round 1 bye, team 3 plays 5 and 6 plays 4 in round 2 4-5 days later ranked team 1 plays winner of 6/4 and 2 plays winner of 3/5 and then winning team play for championship.

You're 100% right !!! No matter what system we have, some group of fans will feel like they were overlooked.
