Let's say you put both hot and cold knobs of your bathtub faucet to the same level and get luke warm water. To make it hotter is it more cost effective to reduce the cold water or to increase the hot water? Is there any difference seeing how the same amount of flow goes through the pipes either way?

If both hot and cold faucets are at the same flow, reducing the cold water to increase the temperature is more cost effective. You don't have to pay to make cold water cold, but you do have to pay to make cold water hot. Using less hot water will cost you less in the long run.

if u want a hot bath decrease the flow of the cold water and increase the hot water no dif for cost as it comes out of heater u pay for water used not heated
