Those are good points (if the researchers don't use animals, what will they use?). But, also point out that the cosmetic industry used to abuse animals, just for the sake of luxury items. That's complete crap, IMO. I support research and science, with the use of animals, but if it's for some stupid night cream for some bimbo to use so she can get rid of one wrinkle, then I think "she" should be tested on in the lab.

I have heard that some people support using Death Row prisoners for testing, or using cultured cells.

But, the animals, regardless their ability to communicate in our language, deserve all the respect in the world. If they weren't available, where would science have started? We have to start somewhere (it's not always the "right" somewhere, but you can progress. You must treat the animal humanely and ensure a quick death after youre done.

If a drug is being taken by a human, what good does it really do to test it on an animal?

This is an excellent question to present.

What is a good test subject? There are so many human prisoners on death row that could be put to use in the medical feild so that we could spare our animal friends and perhaps if this was a part of thier punishment more people would think first before commiting capital crimes.

Animals are equal to humans because they are alive. Animals are living things just like we are. They have hearts that need to beat to get their circulation going, they have livers and spleens and bladders and all the internal organs of a living creature.

They breathe the air, eat, sleep, procreate, just as we do.

What sets animals apart from humans is the fact that they do not lie, cheat, steal, cause war, or contribute to the pollution of our environment. They are also not responsible for global warming.

I hope this helps

There is a series of books called Opposing Viewpoints series. Most libraries have this series. One of the books is:
Animal rights : an opposing viewpoints guide.
Go to your library, if you can, and ask the librarian to help you find this book. If they don't have that book, they will have other books on animal rights. Most of them will have opposing viewpoints. Good luck.
