Well, the bcp will only regulate you while you are ON them. Not once you go off again.
My suggestion would be to try for a couple more months au natural (most docs won't even run tests yet unless you've been trying a year), and then to get some simple tests run. Sperm analysis for him, and bloodwork for you. See if you are ovulating.
OR, you could try basal temperature taking. Believe it or not, that actually works! That is, to determine when, if at all you ovulate.
OR, you could ask to try a little clomid. Clomid works wonders for regulating you. It forces your body to ovulate on a certain day.
But no, I HIGHLY recommend AGAINST taking bcps....

My OB told me that some women are put on bcp for one month to regulate their cycle and also because you are more likely to ovulate your first month off the pill. Therefore, I would discuss this with your OB. Also, you might consider charting your daily basal body temperatures. This would be a good tool for both you and your OB to know if and when you are ovulating during your cycle. You can learn more about charting your bbt and chart your temps for free at fertilityfriend.com. If your cycles are irregular, then it's possible your aren't ovulating regularly either. There are medications, such as Clomid, that can help you ovulate. Good luck.

I have heard that it is bad but that depends on the time frame you take it. Now I have also heard that taking BC is good to regulate you period because I have but I still have not conceived. I would recommend that you talk to a OB/GYN and they can discuss all the options that you might have. Good Luck

Birth control is not good when ttc. There are other methods that can help you get pregnant. Do you chart your cycles to see if you are ovulating. When your cycle is lengthened that much, it can mean annovulation. Many doctors will prescribe clomid to make you ovulate, it also makes a bigger target for the swimmers to hit.
If you dont care how long it takes you to get pregnant, then yes, going on bc can regulate your cycles. I took them for 1 month and it regulated me.
You should start charting your cycles. Fertilityfriend.com is a great free site for charting, and ovusoft.com is great for information and support.
Good luck.

No, not a good idea because your body will get all wacked out again once coming off the bc. YOu could try an ovulation kit to help find out your best time to conceive or just discuss with doc.

Ive always been irregular as well, and skipped periods just like you once in awhile. I have two boys and a baby on the way. I went in for birth control because we wanted to try again. Well i didnt take the birth control because my period was late, and sure enough i was pregnant. If you are otherwise healthy, i would say dont do it. Taking birth control pills can mess up your system more than just trying naturally. Stress can cause you to be having problems. Try to relax and let things happen and they will trust me :) GOODLUCK!

Once you were to stop the BC it can take up to a year for your body to be normal again!
I got pregnant on irregular cycles. 60 to 90 days+.
I would get more in tune with your body and learn the signs of being fertile. Checking cervical mucus and such!
www.justmommies.com can give you lots of info on TTC!

I had the same problem. this book http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/0060937645/ref=s9_asin_title_1/105-2163119-4790812 helped a ton! It was also much less invasive then the infertility treatments at the hospital. All in all it is a GREAT starting place.
It took me 9 months to get pregnant after stopping the pill. I was 21. Good luck!

bc is a great way to regulate your cycle, but once u come off of bc is goes back to the way it was before...the only plus is that most women are very fertile when they come off bc... i would talk to my obgyn and ask him/her what they think is the best way for your to conceive the natural way....
