Do I know any as close friends? No. Have I met them in the course of my work? Yes. (I work for a publisher and get to meet many authors and celebs through that venue.)
I've long since realized that they are just people - good, bad, sweet, annoying, etc. - and no longer get the swoons when I meet them.

My mom worked as Buck Owen's secretary back in the late 60's. We are great friends with his cousins. I met Buck when his uncle died.
I got knocked down by John Wayne when I was 4. He was at Virginia City filming his last movie. We were in a store where he was and he bumped into me. We got his autograph. He was really nice. hehe
