Because they have completely lost the plot......but you can't be mad at them, in fact I kinda feel sorry for them.
The USA is like the UK's retarded little brother, it sure comes up with some stupid sh1t (baseball, american football, george bush) but you just laugh along with him, and tell him he's right.

Most other nations have had soccer as their number one sport for upwards of 100 years. In the US, the sports scene is more crowded, with American football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and even stock car racing (and even poker!) competing for the sports viewer. Also consider that most US-based professional sports leagues are the best leagues in their sport in the world! MLS can't make that claim. There are many soccer fans in the US that disdain MLS because it does not have the best soccer players in the world. Soccer in the US has had fits and starts, but with the growth of the internet and the multichannel TV universe, soccer is as big a deal in the US now as it has ever been. The US Men's national team has qualified for the last 5 World Cups, and made the quarterfinals in 2002. MLS will have 13 teams in 2007, and six will play in new soccer-specific stadiums. Soccer in the US is growing, but the NFL has a 75-year head start. Baseball has a 100+year head start. 50 years ago, boxing and horse racing were huge in the US. Not so much now. Give soccer time. It'll be big enough for all.

I'm American, but I really can't tell you. For as long as I remember, where I am from, it has always been about american football, sspecially, college and highschool football. I cannot think of any time in my life when soccer was ever huge where I live, if there was ever a time.
It has not been, until recently, a very popular sport where I am from. Now it seems like more and more ppl in the States are starting to like soccer, and I feel like I hear more about it, but that may just be because I'm a huge fan now and I spend so much time checking scores and etc lol. But I do wish it were much more popular here where I live. I feel like I don't have anyone to talk about it with, because my family is always talking about football and basketball.

Americans like The big burley football because they think the more points you score and the more people get hurt the better it is. Half of the fat linesman are not atheletes they are tubs of chewed gum. Soccer is boring? Mate maybe cause ya got no clue! It's a moving chess game not one where ya stand in a circle talk about what ya gonna do smack each other on the arses then get what you talked about all wrong and screw up the play. The real football (soccer) takes more skill and athletisism than American football or Basketball by far. I mean the guy in the back runnin the ball comes off the field after one play sit on his fat **** and breathe oxygen for christs sake so you tell me!

Soccer is big in the United States, practically everyone sends their kids to a soccer team.. Plus its very good for the kids in terms of staying in shape and is very cheap to equip children.
It also threatens the established sports of the U.S. like Baseball and Basketball especially. I am not going to say Football because nothing can touch that! Anyways, the major broadcasters and professional leagues will do anything to keep soccer from becoming popular even though everyone has played it at least once or twice. Plus haven't you heard of the term soccer mom, soccer created this.
Peace,

Soccer isn't really something that the majority of us were raised on, and depending where you go in the states, some sports are more popular than others. Most times, things boil down to what's around you, but soccer is growing, especially here in Texas where I am, its just a matter of time, but until it pays like the NFL and the NBA, you're going to have a lot more kids going with the national pastimes.

Soccer isn't as big in the US because we haven't been raised with it. But now its getting bigger. Nearly every family puts their kids in soccer at one point in time. And we do have Major League soccer, which isn't as big as the teams in other countries, but at least it's a start.

not inevitably. Baseball is an American recreation yet Taiwan and Japan have gained the little league international sequence. perhaps individuals does not win the international sequence in the journey that they invited the eastern, Cubans and Costa Ricans to take section. Do you imagine if the vast undesirable Russians performed NFL football they could dominate it? hypothesis is only pie interior the sky, and ought to have, must have, ought to have, advise not some thing.

Because we have a better football.
Actually I like soccer, and I understand the game. Both my kids played both indoor and outdoor growing up. But I would much rather watch American football. There are so many more play variations and chances for strategy.

Because American Football is Big here in America. We don't want to see a bunch of little guys in shorts running around kicking the ball to each other. We want to see men that weigh 250lb's on up crashing smashing and breaking bones trying to get the ball across the end zone.
