They are: McVSEscn.exe and mcvsftsn.exe. This is getting to be a royal pain; what can I do to fix this so I don't have to manually do this? Thanks.

I use WindowsXP and the right answer gets 10 points.

I have to end those processes, because if I keep them I can't run Microsoft Outlook or Windows Media Player!

Or I can't run Internet Explorer.

Search Google to find the removal steps which if you are on XP will most likely require you to hald the system restore feature until you are done.

You shouldn't disable your antivirus startups. You may have too many unneccecary startups enabled.

I don't reccomend modifying your startup in msconfig. What you should do is go to any program that you know is starting up (it will show the icon in your startup tray) and change the startup settings directly in the program.

The fewer programs you have running at any time will give you more ram, and will allow the startups you need to operate correctly.

I would go to:

Start --> Run -- Type msconfig --> go to the Startup tab and see if you can find this under startup items. If so, uncheck them, click OK. Next time you reboot your computer you will get a window letting you know you choose a selective startup, select you agree to this, and you should be good.

Hope this helps.

This appears to be a McAfee Viruscan program. It might be running amok.

you can:

Run a virus scan as you may have a virus in the background attacking Viruscan

Check your Viruscan settings.

Uninstall Viruscan and either reinstall it or go with another antivirus program.

hope this helps.

Hello-

mcvsescn.exe is a process associated with the McAfee AntiVirus suite. It is used to automatically scan incoming e-mails. This process should not be removed to ensure that your system is secure.

Keep those running.. its only helping you. However if it really is annoying then remove McAfee.

That sounds like mcafee antivirus if you want protection, don't end them. If you want to remove them, uninstall mcafee.

OR just go to start>run> type msconfig

and use the startup tab to disable the tasks.
I don't reccomend doing this though, becuase this is your antivirus.

Both process are the part of McAfee virus scaner, so it wont be smart thing to remove them.
