Gavrilo Princip - a Serbian 20 year old student and a member of the secret nationalist Black Hand Society. He was one of three men sent to assassinate the Archduke. After the murder he tried to commit suicide as he had been instructed, but was arrested before he had the time to do it. He died from tuberculosis in prison in 1918.
