A full time job is in the neighborhood of 40 hours. IF you are hired on an hourly basis, then you will be your pay increased or decreased based on hours actually worked. Time and a half happens either after a work day of more than 8 hours, or after a work week of more than 40 hours. I believe the employer has to choose which way to use, but either is legit. If you are hired to work on a salary basis, that generally means 40+ hours a week. The compensation is generally high enough that even if you work more than 40 hours, you are still being paid well. I used to work 70 hours a week on a salary basis, and received no overtime pay. You need to clarify in front whether your pay is hourly or a salary.

Full time typically means 40 hours a week - 8 hours a day. Although they don't have to pay you a salary. You could very well be a full time employee making hourly pay.

usually when a job states fulltime or part time its an hourly type paying job not salary hourly are better jobs anyway you can make more money per week by doing alittle overtime salary is salary if you work 40 hours or 60 hours its the same pay

The employer would tell you up front whether or not you are hourly or salaried.
It also depends on the company's definition of full time. I know that some companies consider 32 hours as full time. Generally speaking 40 hours per week is full time.

I guess I really don't understand your question.
You can be hired 'full time' and still get paid hourly instead of a salary. Then you can make overtime as well.
I get a salary and I happen to put in more than 40 hours a week, but I do not get overtime pay.

Full time is determined differently by each company. The company that I work for classifies "full time hourly" as working an average of 37.5 hours per week (that is 5 days of 8 hours worth of work, minus a 30 minute lunch break).
Check with your human resources departement to see what they classify as "full time hourly".
As hourly, you are also entitled to be paid time and half for any time worked over 40 hours in one work week.

Typically, 40 hrs is considered full time, but I am not sure there is any official number. Depending on the context, I have heard 30hrs is considered full time, or even 'anything over 20'. For example, at the company I work for, you can work 30 hrs a week and still be considered full time (and so qualify for health insurance and other benefits).
