In the Apology, Socrates said " I am wiser that this man; it is likely that neither of us knows anything worthwhile, but he thinks he knows something when he does not; whereas when I do not know, neither do I think I know; so I am likely to be wiser than he to this small extent, that I do not think I know what I do not know."
Socratic Wisdom- A wise man knows what he knows and knows what he does not know.
Therefore, the Wise man is smarter.

i'm going with wise, memories fade, therefore making anything you learn subject to being forgotten. experiences don't fade as well as lessons do, so i'd rather be wise than academically educated. then again, academically educated people are given better jobs and make better money, depending on if they apply it. you can be homeless and wise, or making money while being the president of the United States, so it all depends on what you value more. if you like money, academics the way to be. personally, i'd rather be wise and happy, cuz money's very very dirty : )

My guess is that the wise person is smarter in a logical sense, but the academically educated person is smarter academically. so it depends on what area you are asking.

Well, a Wise person is someone who has the power of discerning and judging properly as to what is true or right; possessing discernment, judgment, or discretion.
Academically means Of, relating to, or characteristic of a school, especially one of higher learning.
I would say a wise person is smarter in the light of every day life.

The wise person because anybody can go to school and stuff their brain with knowledge, but only the wise person understands what they know and they are more than just "book-smart." They are also "street-smart."
