Marriage is not the lastest Hermes bag for the fall. They act as if they have to get married have an elaborate wedding to make the cover of People hurry and have children and make the cover of Vanity Fair and have an elaborate divorce and make the cover of US Weekly. Help Me Understand?

I agree that a lot of celebrity marriages are gone into and dissolved as part of PR. This goes back all the way to the old Hollywood studio system, when the old studio heads would literally tell starts who to marry and when to divorce.

I also think that actors tend to be narcissitic personalities, so that they also don't know how to get along well with others. Marriages don't survive when its always "all about me."

It is kinda commonplace for celebs to do just what you wrote. BUT, don't place all of the blame on the celebs. Have you ever watched an awards ceremony (i.e. Academy Awards, Emmy's, etc)? During the pre-show, the interviewers totally ignore the celeb's spouse unless the spouse is also famous. The interviewer may spend a couple of minutes asking inane questions like "Who are you wearing?" and "How long did it take you to get ready for tonight" all the while the spouse is left just standing near his wife/her husband smiling and not saying a word. They just have to look good next to the celeb. The media totally condones and supports the "marriage as an accessory" thing so I don't think it will stop anytime soon.

I can not help you to understand, but I can agree with you. Although its not just celebrities, the courts allow for easy "disposal", there are no penalties for bailing out. The churches are also guilty of allowing people to walk away without any penalty. In the end, we are basically lazy people with no moral consience and low standards and we are getting worse with every generation. Until there is a "penalty" of some sort to ensure divorce is costly both financailly and emotional we are bound to continue on this trek.

I think that they do get married for the same reasons everyone else does but then they go off for months at a time (making a movie, or album, or tour), and they don't see their spouse very much and grow apart a bit. Since it happens to both of them, they grow apart equally and then there's no reason to stay married especially if they've gotten close to someone else during the whole movie making, album tour thing. Its a vicious cycle.

As far as i can tell, it's kind of like going steady for them. It's not a big deal, they hand all issues over to the lawyers and seemingly just walk away. It also seems to be a big publicity grab too. Strange life eh?

They get caught up in money and can't distungish real life from a movie role. It's sad how people forget what is really important in life when you can buy everything you want.

To keep themselves in the public eye!! Remember, when you're a celebrity or otherwise famous, all press is good press. Sad but true.

Some do it because it's the latest trend. And they try to out do the couple before them, knowing that they really are not in love.
