Yes, I believe there is. I will just use myself as an example. When I am biased towards my friends, it means that those people are the ones I care for and wish to pay the most attention to. It is easy to get lost in the fray, but when I have that one person who has all their attention on me, or I have all my attention on them, it can be a comfort greater than all the people in the world.
Think of Marilyn Monroe. The world loved her, but she was always misunderstood and felt sorrow that nobody could see that.
This is difficult to explain, but I hope you can understand.

When it doesn't hurt someones feelings. It's good to be bias when you purchase products. It's good to be bias when choosing a mate. It's good to be bias at many things. But when it starts to affect someone's feeling, then it's not good no more. haha
