Go to your local Civic Center. They are usually located close to the major county jail. There is an office of Public Records where you can do a basic search of birth certificates or death certificates. You can also obtain information on last known address or location (If they are using their proper name and information, not an alias). They have other bits of info too. When I was trying to look for my dad this was the only place I found that you can get information for free
