All babies go at there own pace, a friend of mine was real worried about her 6 mo old son, she would put him on the floor for tummy time and he would just lay his head down and go to sleep, he just didn't seem to be interested in anything that other 6 mo olds for into, she brought him to the doctors and they said he was fine, and now at 2 you cant get that little boy to stop lol, so if you are concerned go head and bring her to the dr, but most likley she is just going at her own pace.

This is really something you should discuss with her physician. I would think she should be able to hold her head up, but her legs going in the air while on her tummy isn't that unusual. Every child reaches milestones differently. I was worried about my daughter b/c she never crawled. At 8 months she was still not crawling. But, at barely 9 months she got up and walked. She just skipped the crawling thing and went straight to walking. They are all different.

All babies develop at different rates.... I hope you are taking her to a pediatrician regularly. If you are, make sure you are asking questions....and if you feel that your pediatrician may not be giving you all the information you need, I would suggest finding a new one. My son is 8 moths old now and he sleeps more than some of these websites say he should, but I don't worry because I think he probably wears himself out a little more than babies...Go with your gut instincts......if something doesn't feel right, have it checked out. But be very careful of taking advice from the unqualified sources of YA.....

If you are concerned, check with the doc. If money is tight, check with your local churches. They sometimes have mommy support groups that have nurses to help answer questions. The legs stiffening is a normal response. Holding up the head should be good by now. Every child is different. Don't panic. Try the doc or support group. Good Luck!

Each baby develops differently. Sometimes they do not get enough stimulation and excercise to build up muscles and then they get behind in growth milestones like this.....then again, sometimes there is something wrong. The growth and milestones charts are only averages......... but if you are truley worried you should make an appointment with her Dr right away to rule anything else out.

Every baby is different. Just give your baby some time and when she is ready she will be doing more than what you expect. i have an 11 month old and he started walking at 9 mths. i always thought babies were barely trying to sit up at that age. if you are really concerned, speak to the baby's pediatrician. that might ease any of your concerns.

Mine did that. She just learned fast late. She is 10 months old now and she sits alone. rolls, pivots, and can stand with something to hold on to. She has yet to crawl, but we aren't worried. ;-) Some children are just thinkers more then physically busy. ;-)
