The child's father needs to deal with this. Let him know you do not intend to hang around waiting, and make your own schedule with him. He should let her know that she should bring the child only if he plans to be home. You can be out grocery shopping or visiting with youur friends and let him greet the child. If the visits are court ordered, he can contact child protective services and may gain full custody. It is not fair to the child to have visitations only on the mother's whim!

If you have a court order she is contempt of court. Contact your lawyer at once. She doesn't get it her way all the time. She is being selfish. If she can't stick to the court order she will risk losing custody all together. She is alienating you as a parent (or the bio parent). Only the bio-parent has say so in this issue not the step parent. If this continues it is the bio-parents duty to take action.

Speak to her in a positive tone that you would like to be prepared for someone visiting. If she is playing games and making your life miserable contact your attorney.
Good luck.

She may be self centered - however, why can't your husband call her and see? They both need to work together, its about the kids anyhow.
