I found out I was having twins at my stage 2 ultrasound at 21 weeks. The doctor never found a second heartbeat and I was measuring right where a person carrying one baby would be.

Show the pic to your doctor and ask. It could just be something weird with the 4d ultrasound. If he's not sure then he'll probably order a second ultrasound.

Are you having any other symptoms? Like excessive morning sickness or a much larger than usual stomach?

It is possible. It has been know that twins have been missed at 18 week ultrasounds. It depends on the second babies position and how well it is hiding out. I would talk to your doctor and see if your insurance covers another later ultrasound. But I think your doctor at this point should be picking up two different heartbeats, but like I said they have been missed.

YES! I have a cousin who thought she was having a girl and wound up with twins after a stage 2 US. They never did see the other one. I can't believe they didn't hear the heart in other checkups, but the twin was a total surprise!

They can miss twins but these days they really do a good job looking! I doubt they missed a second baby. But it is possible that the second could have been hiding!

Yes, puppies can supply beginning to twins. A authentic breeder buddy of mine's Rottweiler gave beginning to twins. The doggies shared the identical placenta so have been obviously twins. One used to be plenty smaller than the opposite however each doggies thrived and they're now each titled exhibit puppies.

As others have pointed out, yes, it is certainly possible.

However, it isn't likely. And the chance that your doctor/tech completely missed a twin that your friend was able to easily see???

You know what? Check with your doctor. Because if your friend was able to so easily pick up on something so significant that your doctor didn't even notice, it's time to find another doctor! ;p

I highly doubt it...unless you had a really bad tech! They are trained in this kind of thing and especially at 15 weeks it is highly doubtful that they would miss something like that...I don't know what you saw on the print out but I myself had a 3D (although it was at 28 weeks, not 15) and everyone swore there was a second baby on there, but it was actually my placenta!

it's possible because if they are identical twins in the same sac..my ultrasound tech said sometimes they hide behind one another!! My doc was also concerned that I was havin twins..I have and US next week to see the sex of the baby and to see if it will be one or two ..lol GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS
