I went for my 37 wk check up and she told me I am 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. I know I can stay this way for quite some time. However since she did my check yesterday I have been bleeding (which she said woul happen) and I have been feeling really bloated and a little crampy. Does this normally happen after a check up. It's been just over 24 hours.

Also my belly is very tender when I touch it now....especially right around my belly button and it never was sore before. It's also really hard.

Yeah same thing happend to me. I had contrations at that stage tho I has in labor for a week before they took me in. It sucked. The bleeding is normal and yeah I felt bloted, tired and sore all over. Enjoy the last few weeks you have being pregnant. Once you have the baby there will be times that you wish you were still pregnant.

I had a friend at exactly the same condition. She started having contractions, and she thought it was just because of the check, but she went to the hospital just in case and she gave birth after an hour! So if you are having pains that are periodic, like every 5 minutes or evry two minutes or something, call your doctor and perhaps go to the hospital for a check.

Its braxon hicks and its normal. It causes you to efface and dialate and progress into labor.

You belly button area will get sore because these are the weeks that the baby grows the fastest, and the skin in that area is the thinnest and stretches the most.

You're just as you ought to be.

Most women get "Braxton Hicks" contractions, which are you're bodies way of getting used to the feeling - practice contractions if you like. But don't take my word for it not being the real thing :S

well, you could be having braxton-hick contractions, or possibly be starting labor. i would time the pains to make sure they are regular and call your doctor.
