I have a 94 s-15 jimmy can't get into 4 H but 4 low works what should I check first?

My jimmy has push button 4x4 controls but it won't go into 4 Hi. If I try to engage in nutral it goes into 4 low. What should I check first?

The switch. Its very common that these go bad.
