I am hoping you mean founded ... because otherwise the only answer I could give would be "I didn't know it was lost".

But, assuming you mean founded And you mean the Hershey company ... The Hershey company says: "t all started with a decision.
Our company originated with candy-manufacturer Milton Hershey’s decision in 1894 to produce sweet chocolate as a coating for his caramels. Located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, he called his new enterprise the Hershey Chocolate Company. In 1900, the company began producing milk chocolate in bars, wafers and other shapes. With mass-production, Hershey was able to lower the per-unit cost and make milk chocolate, once a luxury item for the wealthy, affordable to all. One early advertising slogan described this new product as “a palatable confection and a most nourishing food.”

If you mean the town of Hershey ... It was here, surrounded by some of America's most productive dairy farms, that Milton S. Hershey opened the world's first modern chocolate factory, and built the "model town" to provide employees and their families with an attractive place to live, work, and play. In 1907, he opened "Hershey Park" for the recreation and entertainment of the workers and their families. He also built a zoo, now known as ZOOAMERICA. During the Depression, his "Great Building Campaign" created jobs and a stadium, sports arena, community center with an elegant theater, and a Mediterranean-inspired hotel-THE HOTEL HERSHEY.

HERSHEY'S Cocoa debuted in 1894 when Milton Hershey founded Hershey Chocolate Company. The item was initially sold as a beverage mix. In fact, "Great for Baking" was added to the can as a reminder that Cocoa could be included in baked goods as well. Today most HERSHEY'S Cocoa is used for baking... and it's still great!

1894 - Hershey introduces Unsweetened Cocoa.
1988 - Hershey replaces metal cans with plastic cans.

1989 - Hershey launches Dutch Processed Cocoa.

2005 - Hershey launches SPECIAL DARK Cocoa

Hershey's is one of the oldest chocolate companies in the United States, and an American icon for its chocolate bar.

After completing an apprenticeship to a confectioner in 1876, Milton Snavely Hershey founded a candy shop in Philadelphia, which failed six years later. After trying unsuccessfully to manufacture candy in New York, Hershey returned to Pennsylvania, where he founded the Lancaster Caramel Company, whose use of fresh milk in caramels proved successful. In 1900, Hershey sold his caramel company for $1,000,000[10] (about US$24,000,000 in today's currency) and began to concentrate on chocolate manufacturing.

In 1903, Hershey began construction of a chocolate plant in what became Hershey, Pennsylvania.[12] The milk chocolate bars manufactured at this plant proved successful, and the company grew rapidly thereafter.

In 1907, Hershey introduced a new candy, small flat-bottomed conical-shaped pieces of chocolate that he named "Hershey's Kisses". Initially they were individually wrapped by hand in squares of foil, and the introduction of machine wrapping in 1921 simplified the process while adding the small paper ribbon to the top of the package to indicate that it was a genuine Hershey product.[13] The product was trademarked three years later and went on to become one of the most successful and well-known products ever produced by the company. Other products introduced include MR. Goodbar (1925), Hershey’s Syrup (1926), chocolate chips (1928), and the Krackel bar (1938).

In 1940, over two years after the defeat of the CIO union, an affiliate of the American Federation of Labor successfully organized Hershey's workers under the leadership of John Shearer, who became the local's first president. Currently, Local 464 of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers represents the Hershey workers, and although it calls itself the "Chocolate Workers" it has successfully organized workers in other local industries.

Manufacturing plants
The first plant outside Hershey, Pennsylvania opened on June 15, 1963 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. Another plant, covering two million square feet of manufacturing space (185000 square meters), is the largest chocolate factory in the world;[15] the factory opened on May 22, 1965 in Oakdale, California.[16] These are the major factories for Hershey's, as tours are offered in the Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada plant. Tours were operated in the Pennsylvanian factory, but this no longer the case.[17] Visitors to Hershey, Pennsylvania can now experience Hershey's Chocolate World visitors' center and its simulated tour ride.
