As it stands, they do use what works. It just so happens, drugs work. Pharmaceutical companies already must prove their drugs are safe and effective to an independent organization. In contrast there is no such regulation for herbal remedies. Pharmaceutical companies also happen to be the only people that make drugs. If another company made them, that company would then become a pharmaceutical company. Herbs generally don't work. The few that do are inferior to the drugs made from them. Again, drugs work. Also, I don't think you've been to a medical school campus. Many are pushing complementary and alternative "medicine" left and right. We have the potential of an entire generation of doctors who were told CAM is fine and dandy. It isn't. It does not work. Lives will be lost. Edit: Compare the life expectancy and infant mortality now, the age of modern medicine, to even a century ago. Medicine works, far, far better than anything else. We use what works. We go back, expect those numbers to plummet again. We know herbs generally don't work because researchers bothered to look at most of the commonly used ones. Despite this data showing how useless they are, the companies that produce supplements can keep lying about their efficacy. This is where there is no regulation or oversight. Edit: The data is in scientific journals you can access from Pubmed. Not every herb has been investigated, so some are sold with no data either way. However, the ones that have been investigated never work. For example, ginko has been shown to be equivalent to placebo. Sanitation has not improved drastically in the west in the 50 years, yet people are still living longer, healthier lives. Medicine works.

You donate your body for medical research. Your dead body. Selling your body while alive is prostitution. Just go on the street corner and state your price. Its not hard. Or place an ad in the newspaper saying you are an "escort."

Most of these companies require you or your family pay a "disposal fee" after you die. The money would be paid after you are deceased to your estate or next of kin.
