Are you in the UK and is it to finance a new business or just to use the banking facility?

I use Abbey for banking and swear by them. No charges usually associated with business account (like charging everytime a cheque is cashed etc). No problems so far.

You could draw up list of what you are looking for and then find out direct from the banks how they compare. I would guess the bank thats best for no charges would equally be the one that doesnt provide high interest on deposits, so the "best" would be dependant on what service your require. nearly all seem to provide start up packages, business plans etc. Another element is of you need online transaction support in which case banks providing this would be a best bet. You could ask trade bodies and see if they can help (e.g who most members bank with)

I have a selection of businesses and have used a wide range of banks. I find that Abbey National (http://www.anbusiness.com/) is the best for my businesses due to the fact its free. Most others I have used are free for a year then stick on charges after that. I was spending £1000 in bank charges in my 3rd year of business, now I have moved to Abbey National its free. This is my opinion and your business may require other banking facilities but they suited me, they may not suit everyone.
