I know how to install a motherboard and build a computer, I know I need to use spacers between mobo and case, etc.

I've never used the washers before and i know I dont HAVE to, but I figure they are provided for a reason.

ALL I NEED TO KNOW, if should the washers go between the mobo and the spacers(back side of mobo), or should the washers go between the mobo and the screw heads (top side of mobo).

I just asked this question -- i got 6 answers, 3 one way, 3 the other. So Im asking again, and this time I am asking that you *****PROVIDE A REFERENCE (LINK) FOR YOUR ANSWER*****

FYI: They are little reddish, cardboard feeling, washers. They have adheasive on one side.

Thanks for the answers!! Sorry to spam the same question again!!

cristanine: It's not that I am scared --- I am pretty certain that if it will work without any washers -- it would work wherever I decide to put them (top or bottom). I just figured if I am going to use the washers, I might as well use them correctly. And I'm not sure why you say "Do your homework Dude..." -- As that is exactely what I am doing with this question......

between the mobo and the screw heads (top side of mobo) because under the motherboard, ie mobo and spacers, they can pierce through the green paint and can short circuit (or shall i say, cross connect) the wires on that side of the mobo.
while they will prove to be harmless on the upperside of mobo.

When you get scared of something you stop in your tracks afraid your gonna goof. If you have installed a Mother Board already then you already know how. Your only fooling yourself.

I have been doing computers for 10 years and when I first started out I blew up two transformer power packs.
I wrote my own Java and HTML programs and blew up my computer with my own pic Bomb called "Nuke Me"..
I hacked into a Government Center and got chewed out.
I have cracked my own and lost it.
I can go on and on about things I have learned from experience and today I just rebooted my entire system and flushed the crap down the toilet, tweaked my registry and I do this every month this is why I do not store anything I don't want to lose. I have two computers. One for my personal use and this one to bull around with on line.

So if you can fix and repair and install your question is a sign that you are scared.

The worst thing that can happen is you blow up your Mother board...the best thing that can happen is you learn something new. Do your homework Dude...its the best way!
