For high heels, it's best to go with a wider heel, and keep the skinny heels short. Most professionals recommend that shoes should be conservative, and demure, until you get a feel for the company. Ankle straps, peep toes, stilettos, platforms, etc... can all be considered too sexy for business wear. This doesn't mean they have to be ugly, or old lady shoes. The only way the shoe will look childish is if you have a round toe with a short, chunky heeled shoe. Like this one, which is way too youthful for an adult at work. (Though it could be a great casual shoe for someone your age.)

These are just example styles, so don't worry if you don't like the actual shoe.
For a flat, the toe should be pointed, for a more mature look.

For a low heel, the heel itself should be skinny, not fat.

Mid height heels should be a bit thicker for easier walking, and more comfortable shoes.

Then for anything with a high heel, 3"+, try a wedge or wide, stacked heel.

try stacked heels....they help you balance more easily...in my opinion, you will soon have to get used to stilettos bec thats the most elegant type...you would not want to wear "cute" shoes if you have to work in a professional environment or even a business casual workplace. ppl will judge your performance based on your appearance sometimes.
