I personally do not care. I think they just have to be qualified for the position. By qualified I mean intelligent capable of action and such.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Israel, Germany, Great Britain, Canada just to name a few have all had female leaders at one time or another. There is no reason why the US can't have a woman president as long as she is qualified.

Just the other night, I questioned my husband about Hillary Clinton. He's a bricklayer, and a Union Democrat man. I wanted to know when he and the guys have talked politics at work (and they do), what he's heard the guys says about Hillary. I asked him in particular if he thought that men who have voted Democratic all their lives would vote Republican and/or Independent if she were the Democratic nominee, simply because she is a woman. He said that he thinks it's about 70/30 re Hillary. That about 70% say if she ran they would never vote for her precisely because she is a woman. About 30% have said they don't much care about the gender and she might be a good thing for this country. He also said though, that he thinks a lot of those who make up that 70% are just saying what they think their macho buddies want to hear, and that privately he thinks many of them would vote for her. They just don't want to admit it. He also said they would never vote Republican, but some probably just wouldn't vote at all if she were the Dem choice. He himself is pretty vocal about liking her, and he never hesitates to say he would vote for her in a heartbeat. Of course, ahem, he could just be saying that stuff when he's in front of me lol. Anyway, I thought this little story was relevant to your question.

Given that 50 % of the pop is female we should have an equal representation of that in leadership. I am surprised that women do not value other women, i see more women hating hillary out of some hatred for women that are powerful. Women in government may add some "heart" to decisions. Maybe we would war less and talk peace.....

I don't care if they are male or female. If they look to be a good leader then I would elect them into office.

we're ready. Not a big deal any more. As a point-
It's interesting that all of the discussion about whether Hillary Clinton would be a suitable candidate- none of it (or at least very little of it) is about her gender.
I live in Arizona. Our Governor is female (Janet Nepolitano) and is quite good.
