Abnormal bleeding?

Question

I stopped using Depo Provera for birth control and after better than 3 years of having no periods at all, I am now on 20 days straight of menstrual bleeding. Can anyone advise me of an herbal or homeopathic remedy to get the bleeding to stop?

Thanks for the advice to see a doc but I have no medical insurance and no M.D. Need something else to tide me over 'til a payday that allows a $180 visit to allopathic and probably couldn't afford the drugs anyway. I am a single secretary living on a single income and am not indigent enough to go to "free" clinics. Thank you.

I have fibroid tumors in my uterus and I even have cysts on my ovaries. I have very heavy bleeding and terrible cramps considering that of the tumors. However, I not ever bleed among durations. Ok, I can sort of relate to this although I have never been on Depo. I indulged in the patch for 3 months at a time to control my periods as I was losing too much blood (by my account) and was borderline anemic. I had been on the patch for a couple of years and last December my periods became long (about 20 days, heavy) and monthly, even though I was still on the patch. I talked with my Doc about it because it had been happening regularly for 6 mos prior to my appt. He said that my body was trying to adjust itself chemically and it wasn't anything serious as I wasn't loosing too much blood to endanger myself. I'd just have to ride it out and my body would right itself.

Just a side note, take some vitamins and if your prone to a low iron count as I was, take an OTC iron pill daily. Also drink plenty of water.

Just FYI, my monthly did calm down, but as a personal choice due to my medical history, I opted for surgery - uterine ablation. I don't know how long it will take your body to adjust to the withdrawal of the Depo.

your body is just going through hormonal changes.. i doubt there is much you can do without some sort of meds... sorry!!

Call your doctor. This may be a sign of something more serious. . .you should get checked asap.
