How long have clothes dryers been around?

the sun has been around for millions of years and has been used as a clothes dryer probably since man came around. electric clothes dryers are a product of teh 20th century i believe, though there may have been some sort of non electric drying machine in the 19th.

I remember back when I was growing up. My mom always hung the laundry out to dry. That was late 50's. I think the dryers came out around that time. I do remember us having a gas one around 1960.

middle class people got them in the 60's and 70's.
