Spam is pretty subjective, and kind of similar to that quote about pornography: "I can't define what it is, but I know it when I see it."

Generally, spam is unsolicited advertising and promotion. "Go visit my site!" and "Does anyone want to make $1,000 extra a month?" and "Cheap medications!" are pretty common messages.

In Yahoo! Answers, spam is usually promoting yourself in the question ("Does anyone need a job? Visit this site and work from home!"), or in the answer ("We help people all the time with this problem, we can help you, visit our site!").

Putting your signature or online business card at the end of a genuine answer usually won't result in being flagged as spam, since your signature isn't actively attempting to influence anyone to contact you for products.

Good luck.

Spam is any e-mail that is classified as virtually useless, such as scams, adverts and random offers such as penis extensions, sent to women! I mean, FFS, do your research! >_<

Spamming on here and other message boards are questions and answers (threads and posts) that don't make sense or incorrectly placed questions and answers (or threads and posts). This could be considered spam as it's in the wrong topic. It could have gone more comfortably in the Yahoo! Answers category.

Think carefully about where you post a question, so other users won't get annoyed and report your questions. And you won't get them removed.
