No, I'd suggest talking to a plastic surgeon; if you were good looking, you'd have nothing to worry about. You apparently are also ignorant, as the fact that he's male and has not been there as long doesn't necessarilly have anything to do with it. You and the morons who agree with you are simply ignorant. The man most likely has skills to offer the company the most value as they wind down. That, combined with the fact that you are obviously not attractive, and obviously very stupid all add up to the fact that you should be grateful you're getting anything at all. I don't know if you have grounds for a lawsuit. You're assuming it's sexually biased, but that would be tough to prove. Company's in this situation are usually pretty good about legal compensation to employees when downsizing or outsourcing. They may have had good legal reasons to want him to stay more. Or basically he could have played hardball with them where as you hadn't. I guess you could check into it with a lawyer but I'd doubt it would be worth your time and money. But most importantly, keep in mind that you would get your co-worker in hot water and he would probably lose his severance package since he broke the agreement by discussing the amount of the severence.

It would depend ; the company may have needed him and offered him more to stay. Do you both have the exact same job and responsibilities? When our company closed we were told that severance was not required by law. Those that stayed till the end got no more than those that chose to leave. I guess you could call a lawyer; but, I would not get my hopes up.

Your male co-worker broke a verbal confidentiality agreement with the employer by telling you what he is getting. If you file a complaint, the company might choose not to grant a severance payout to either of you. Good Luck.

Yes I think you should seeing you've been with the company longer then your co-worker it just isn't right all men seem to get a higher pay & get what they want tell your employer you know what he's getting & you think it's wrong hopefully this guy will talk with your lawyer as well.Good Luck
