I do not have any windows disk I bought the computer used by someone who refurbishes them. Again it is telling me that there is no primary hard disk drive found on #1 and #0 primary hard disk drive has a failure? I would like to be able to use this computer for my Mom. Her's is even older and has less memory and an older processor!

well, it pretty much looks like the comp has only 1 phisical hard drive, and that drive just died out! you need a new hard drive for your computer.

Assuming it was working fine initially.. Then signs would tend to point to the HDD going bad. But that's not 100% gaurantee. I would first make sure the cable connecting the harddrive to the board is in good shape (eg. no holes, tears,etc..), and plug in properly. Secondly I would try some harddrive diag. software. Get a copy of Hitachi's Drive Fitness Test software. Odds are if the computer isn't seeing the drive the software wouldn't either.. But it's handy software to have.

The next step you'll want to take is to get a new drive. If you want something cheap and small head over to pcliquidators.com they've got some really cheap. Alternately, you can go to any computer store and buy a new harddrive.. It'll probably run you around $60 give or take $20

The hard drive on Channel 0 may have failed. You would have to replace it. They are pretty cheap. $60-70 bucks. If it's old it's a PATA drive. WALMART carries them.
