why do we need a dance academy?

hi there..
im fadhila, an architecture student in Malaysia.. im currently in degree program and im in my final year. for this semester, i have to proposed one project. its either live or non-live project.
im so interested in doing a dance academy for my project. Im still in my first level of proposal and at this stage, I need to compile information about my ideas
here, it would be nice and kind of u to tell n give me some info on

1. why do you think you need to build your dance studio? from a macro and micro perspective.
because i know the main purpose is to educate student in a formal way of dancing.

2.i need to know the relevant issue that contribute to the dance academy existence and

3. why do i need to build a dance academy in certain area especially in the city.

I think dance academy is different from a dance studio. The difference I think is that academy is granting formal degrees in dancing while studios are just teaching people how to dance (it can be "formal way" or not "formal way") So in some sence, academy is bigger.

OK, I'll imagine for a moment that I'm a professional dancer retired from the stage but I have big dreams is terms of teaching. I'll imagine that I'm familiar with the variety of styles, at least familiar enough to be able to hire right people.

"I need to build a new studio because I was working (renting the floor) in the other studio. There is not enough hours that they can let me use. They have their own demands on the floor usage, there is not enough space to accomodate the demands.
It is not possible to rent the floor in other facilities. Other studios are too far away and most students are not willing to face a commute that's longer than 40 minutes. Other buildings (community center) doesn't have a suitable dance floor. It is true that they have hardwood floor, but the layer of concrete underneath makes this floor unsuitable because it is bad for dancer's feet.

Dance studio is a frindly business that won't alter the surrounding community in any adverse way. If anything, it will only make it better because it will provide the opportunity for a healthy hobby for those who live nearby."

As far as why you need to build it in a certain area in the city, or where do you build it - well you want good access to roads on one hand, and you want sothnign semi-decent at least, because people won't want to go to scary areas of the city. On the other hand, there are all sorts of limitations as of where can you build commercial buildings and where you can buid residential buildings. I'm sure you know more than I do on this.

As far as whether or not this school will be granting degrees in dancing it is too complicated for me to answer.

I actually don't think this is a good forum to get the necessary feedback from (especially after seeing some of those earlier answers).

Why don't you try contacting some dance/arts/theatre groups in your city and get their opinions? They must have had to evaluate similar questions when trying to come up with artistic spaces for themselves. At the very least, they'd be able to provide some perspectives from artists' points of view.

You can also try searching online arts groups to contact. Singapore has a Yahoo Group called artscommunity. It has a large membership (over a thousand I think) and the mails sometimes also reach foreign artists, some of them are Malaysian too. No harm sending round an email to ask for opinion.
