well I'm only 22 a senior at college and I realized that the party scene was too much for me when I got a real job. Also when I realized that I could wake up at 6 in the morning, and when I started to buy business attire and didn't wear jeans alot. Also when going to bed no later than 10 at night instead fo waking up at 10 at night those were some of my highlights when I realized, jeez I have grown up. Oh yeah paying bills and keeping my checking account out of the negative, lol!!! and yes I'm on the verge of divorce also! lol

One of the first things that I finally realized was what my mother meant when she said, "I'm not stupid, I've been there." I thought that was such BS for the longest time. I'm going to be a mother and I know exactly what she means. Second thing was getting married and third when I realized the party was over because I was pregnant. Yay for being all growed up...haha.

One big 3 month hellride threw me out of my comfort zone.
The first was when I met a girl for a long distance relationship. She decided to run away from home to see me, with the knife her boyfriend gave her. The cops got her first and I met her finally, cuffed and chained to a bench. Apparently, my night wouldn't have ended so well if it weren't for the manhunt her mother and -girlfriend- called for. Then, shortly after, my dog Blue whom I'd confided all my secrets and hopes to died a pretty bad end. I walked around like a zombie for a month. Then, as such, my friends decided to conspire against me and almost all drop me at once. The ones that stuck around did so only to make me comic relief and it was a while before I could get rid of them to make myself feel better.
That sucked. lol

I'm only 17, but these are the 'milestones' that made me realise:
* I've started moaning about EVERYTHING that I encounter such as buses, television, young people's behaviour (even if they're only 3 years younger than me!)
* I can no longer use the excuse 'I didn't know it was homework' when I forget to hand in work at college
* And there was something else that absolutely horrified me a few weeks ago that made me realise I'm getting too old, but I can't remember what it was!

When I got an apartment and I started paying bills, when I started buying Christmas presents for my family, and when I turned 20, that was a big deal to me I thought I'm not a teen anymore I beter start acting more grown up.

-When I realized, that loving and working relationships are nothing granted, but something you have to work on.
-When I came to understand, that being poor is uncomfortable, but having friends and having moral standards and self-respect are more important.
-When I stopped doing things because they were expected from me and started doing things because I wanted to and saw their importance for my life.
Leaving home and moving to another country all by myself when I was 18, finding a good job and learning for it were mere circumstances, that led to those insights. I didn't feel more adult when I moved to Vienna, but whenever one of the above points occured to me, something changed.

Getting married, buying a house and having my first son. They all happened within one year. It was a crazy busy time but I grew up real fast.
