i think 80-85 wins is right too, but knowing the NL, that could easily land them in the playoffs.
one of their main problems last year was the fact that their starting rotation seemed to change every week. they still dont have the pitching. they signed wood, but most likely he will be in the bull pen. he wont last in the rotation. they certainly have the bats to do it, but there isnt an pitching.
but as we can watching with our bears, one side of a team is enough to go 10-2, why not let the cubs win with only one side of a team.
GO WHITE SOX!!

The Cubs are certainly adding some offense to their lineup, but, the health of their 2 pitchers, Wood and Prior are always up for debate. If those 2, plus Zambrano and if they can get Lilly from Toronto, the Cubs will certainly look like contenders in the NL next year.

The Cubs are looking good.
If they sign Jason Schimdt
that would be awesome.
I think they have a chance to win the Central,
However The Cardinals just signed thier ace for
5 more years, so they will be hard to beat.
If The Cubs win 85 games they should wrap up their division.
I do know for a fact that The Cubs will win the WS before the whinny sux ever do again. In fact, It probably will be another 88 years before the whinny sux win again.

It's all going to depend on the quality of pitching that Hendry brings. For all of those White Sox fans questioning why he didn't spend his dollars on pitching, there hasn't been any big name pitchers signed until Padilla resigned with the Rangers today so give the guy a break. The Cubs had an anemic offense last year so of course we needed to upgrade our offense. Our bullpen is solid except for Dempster's struggles with mechanics last year and those can be fixed.
It's all going to depend on what pitchers Hendry brings in this year. It should be fun to watch!
Oh, and suits? Stay home! Only real Cub fans need to go to the games. Jacque Jones still sucks!

Cubbies might be alright. If they can maybe go out and get a Gil Meche or Jason Schmidt, and if Wood and Prior are healthy, they will contend for the division. They are going to score a lot of runs with Soriano, Ramirez and Lee in the middle of that lineup.

We're all wondering how the Cubs will do next year. Hope springs eternal. Maybe Cubs management will even take your advice. I hate to get all excited about Soriano, cause he's just one guy. At least it gives us something to speculate on till pitchers and catchers report.

The eternal question -- will the Cubs move onwards to the Championship season? I do know that they paid mega-bucks for one person -- but one person does NOT a team make -- and that money might be better spent building an ACTUAL TEAM rather than just tossing it to one (or two) people.

I think they have a decent chance at taking the Division, But I Doubt it, so it will be Cards, Cubs, and then Reds.
