I like to cook, and have an injector set, and I love it. I think that's very appropriate.
And never say "it's only a community college." Whether you're just getting an A.S. degree or whether you are going on to a 4 year college, you are still furthering your education. That's something alot of people never bother to do. I'm sure your mom is VERY proud of you, and would wear that sweatshirt with her head held high.

Your dad's gift sounds ideal, especially if he does like to cook! My dad has one of those kits, and he has bought several of them for his friends. They are great!
As for your mom, depends on if she will actually wear the sweatshirt or not. My mom would never wear a sweatshirt (don't know why). If a gift from your college is something you want to give your mom, how about a coffee mug with their logo on it? If she is a coffee drinker, it would really be more useful than a sweatshirt she may never wear. Or, instead of a sweatshirt, how about a windbreaker or a jacket from your college? That would be a gift I would love to have!

Sounds like you put a lot of thought into it already...plus as a college student $$ is always tight!
I gave my parents sweatshirts from both colleges I attended and they loved them! I graduated 4 years ago and I still see my mom wearing the one i gave her my freshman year on the weekends! By the way its the one that says "My kid and my money go to NSU!"

The sweatshirt is fine only if your Mom wears that type of clothing. If she usually does not..it's a bad idea.
The one for your dad sounds like a nice gift.

Both gifts sound like you are being thoughtful to me...which is a sign of a good gift, but you know them best.
