Last year we had a party and I came up with a game (to do either just before midnight start around 11:30 or to do just after 12:00)
I made a list of funny resolutions - in fact I simply googled the phrase funny resolutions and picked the best/funniest ones I could find. Then I cut them and placed them in a large bowl. Everyone had to choose a folded paper and not show it to anyone. Then we went around announcing what are resolutions were.
I don't have the list anymore but I think I remember some examples:
This year I will buy my lotto tickets at a luckier store.
This year I will shampoo, rinse and then repeat.
This year I will not use other people's toothbrushes...
This year I will remember that red meat is still good for you - it's the GREEN meat that I have to worry about.
This year I will focus on more important things, so what does everyone think of my hair?
And so on...

Try doing a local city search. My city has a fair and fireworks downtown, and many bars and restaurants have events such as special dinners or drink specials or free champagne. So look around, I'm sure there's something fun going on.

man i stay home on new years - too many crazies out there. It's fun to turn on the police scanner and listen to them get arrested.
